WINTER STORM OUTLOOK: For Thursday, slight rain chances, high 47°. Then the fun begins overnight Thursday into Friday as a major storm system is poised to strike Middle Tennessee with a collection of freezing rain, sleet and snow. For the most part, we (in Cookeville) will miss out on the freezing rain, but will see significant sleet and snow on Friday during the afternoon hours. By Friday evening, I expect and all snow event that will last through Saturday. We can certainly expect the Weather Forecast Office in Nashville to issue a Winter Storm Watch for Friday. SEE THEIR MAP ABOVE! They expect a 4" snow in the Music City. At this point, we should expect around 4-6" total snowfall accumulations here in the Cookeville area with even higher amounts in the usual places like Monterey, Jamestown, Clarkrange, Oneida, etc. FYI, the record in Cookeville for Friday is 1.5" in 1936 and 1" for Saturday set back in 1981. Both those records will probably fall!

I guess if it's gonna snow, we may as well get a bunch so the kids will be able to make snowmen while they're stuck at home!
I see the TDOT crews are already out prepping the highways with the spray trucks. Good to see they're taking the forecast seriously.
I hope it does snow and snows alot so my grandchildren can finally see a decent snowfall. I am ready for them to be able to make snowmen, eat snow cream, sled and all that good stuff you can do in the snow. They have never seen more than an inch or so on the ground. Oh, did I say, I LOVE SNOW ALSO so BRING IT ON!
