Weather Statement

From National Weather Service...

Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 7:26 AM CST on December 31, 2010

....Heavy rain possible late tonight and Saturday...

A cold front will bring a chance for heavy rainfall to middle
Tennessee late tonight and Saturday. Look for showers to break
out during the afternoon with a band of showers and thunderstorms
developing during the evening over western areas of the mid state
and spreading east. Showers and thunderstorms will become more
widespread after midnight with the heaviest rainfall expected
across southern and eastern areas of the mid state including the
plateau. Rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible with
locally up to three inches by noon Saturday. Middle Tennessee is
currently in a rainfall deficit for the month ranging from two and
a half to three inches...but runoff from heavy rains can fill
creeks and streams quickly leading to flash flooding.

In addition to the heavy rain potential...there is also the
threat of severe storms with damaging winds mainly in western
middle Tennessee tonight.

Residents across the mid state are urged to remain updated with the
latest forecast information. Keep NOAA Weather Radio nearby tonight
and in the alert Mode.
