Winter Weather Update-Cookeville, TN

Winter Storm Warning, Wind Chill Advisory
Statement as of 6:23 AM CST on December 13, 2010

....Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon CST today...
...Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until noon CST today...

* accumulations: another 1 to 2 inches of snow through the
morning. Storm totals for the plateau will reach 4 to 6
inches. A couple of high elevation spots will exceed 8 inches.

* Impacts: slick and snow covered roads. Gusty winds will make
driving more difficult...and visibility will be reduced by
patchy blowing snow. Wind chill values will drop below zero at
times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet...and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors...make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
