...WINTRY PRECIPITATION OVER PARTS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE...
A FAST MOVING WEATHER SYSTEM CONTINUED TO PRODUCE SOME WINTRY
PRECIPITATION IN PARTS OF MID TENNESSEE. AT 1245 PM...
PRECIPITATION WAS FALLING EAST OF INTERSTATE 65 AND ACROSS THE
PLATEAU. BURSTS OF SLEET AND SNOW WERE OCCURRING OVER THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS AND NORTH OF I 40. LOCATIONS AROUND
COOKEVILLE...CARTHAGE...GAINESBORO AND LIVINGSTON HAVE HAD ABOUT
ONE HALF INCH SNOW ACCUMULATION...MAINLY ON GRASSY AREAS.
HOWEVER...A FEW SLICK SPOTS HAVE DEVELOPED ON AREA ROADS.
THROUGH THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS...THE PRECIPITATION WILL BE
CROSSING THE PLATEAU...THEN MOVING EAST OF THE AREA. A FEW SLICK
SPOTS WILL DEVELOP WHERE THE SNOW IS FALLING...BUT SOON AFTER THE
SNOW MOVES AWAY...TEMPERATURES WILL WARM ABOVE FREEZING.
NO SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL PROBLEMS ARE EXPECTED FOR THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE.
LOOKING AHEAD...COLD AND UNSETTLED WEATHER IS EXPECTED LATE THIS
WEEK THROUGH AT LEAST NEXT WEEK...WITH SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR
WINTER WEATHER IN MID TENNESSEE. THIS MIGHT BE A GOOD OPPORTUNITY
FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEANS TO REVIEW WINTER WEATHER SAFETY RULES AND
UPDATE WINTER TRAVEL SUPPLIES. PLEASE MONITOR WEATHER FORECASTS
EACH DAY...FORECASTS AND CONDITIONS CAN CHANGE VERY QUICKLY IN
THESE ACTIVE AND COMPLEX WINTER WEATHER PATTERNS.
