Expect rains to be heavy at times in the overnight hours and on Sunday as a strong surface low pressure system will move slowly northeast from Louisiana toward middle Tennessee. Rain will overspread the area during the overnight hours.
Not expecting anything severe but will see some heavy showers along with a thunderstorm. With an abundance of moisture available along with lift in the atmosphere, rainfall totals will be 1-2" across much of the area with some 3" amounts possible.
Here in the Cookeville area, the rain starts later tonight and will continue into Mother's Day before wrapping up late in the evening. At this point, flooding doesn't appear to be an issue HOWEVER, street and creek flash flooding could be a problem in heavier storms.
