Back To Reality (Possible Snow Chances?)

More on the snow chances toward the end of tonight's post.

Nothing like a 32.5° drop in temperatures during the last 24 hours to kick us all in the head. At almost 11 pm  we stand at 31.9° and were at 64.5° just last night at this time. All of the precipitation is out of middle TN at this time, so no snow is expected. Skies will slowly begin the process of clearing out and we should go down into the mid 20's by morning.

WE NEEDED THE RAIN:
During the last couple of days we recorded 2.50" of rainfall in Cookeville with much of it coming during the overnight and early morning hours of Monday. Below is a map of measurements during the last 24 hours ending at 7 am Monday. Click on it for a larger map.

WARMUP AHEAD:
We do actually see a warming trend the rest of this week. Tuesday will be the coldest day with highs only around 44° as clouds decrease gradually and we see sunny skies in the afternoon. A north wind will make conditions feel brisk. Cold Tuesday night with a low in the mid and upper 20's by Wednesday morning.

Wednesday's high will be 50°, with 56° on Thursday, and 57° on Friday. Next chance of rain is expected during the upcoming weekend.

SNOW BEFORE CHRISTMAS:
Forecasting models over the 10-day show another big shot of cold air by early-mid next week with a chance of a nice setup for some wintry precipitation. Nothing is guaranteed and as I ALWAYS SAY, things can and will change in this part of the country so check back often for latest updates!
