Another round of heavy rainfall is forecast for Saturday and Sunday in the Cookeville and surrounding areas. We're under a FLOOD WATCH through Sunday afternoon. Expectations of rainfall amounts are in the 2"-4" with some isolated amounts in the 5" range. Last weekend we recorded 3.11" of rainfall and there were problems reported across many areas of Middle TN. With saturated grounds and the potential for more rainfall than last weekend, the possibility exists for greater problems this weekend.
I've posted links below to radar.
The counties affected in this watch beginning at 7 am on Saturday are the following:
Bedford
Cannon
Clay
Coffee
Cumberland
Dekalb
Fentress
Grundy
Jackson
Macon
Overton
Pickett
Putnam
Rutherford
Smith
Sumner
Trousdale
Van Buren
White
Warren
Wilson
Remember a flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based upon the current forecasts. You should be aware of and monitor the latest forecasts along with being alert for possible flood warnings. People living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take immediate action should flooding develop.
