FRIGID WEATHER ALERT: Here Is What We Know

Sunday is expected to be a fairly nice day with rain developing and warmer temperatures. Highs will be around 51°. As the strong front of cold air pushes in late in the day, we'll see temps fall quickly. The warmest part of the day will be just after lunch.

*Winter Weather Warnings*

SUNDAY NIGHT CHANGEOVER:
By sunset, we'll be down around 40° and I expect the rain to begin a transition to snow sometime in the 7 pm hour. By 10 pm, we'll be down in the lower 20's with a pretty significant rate of snow falling (1/2" per hour) during those hours. Total accumulations could range from 2-3".

POSSIBLY COLDEST DAY IN 20 YEARS:
By daybreak on Monday, you'll encounter icy streets and a brutal 5° temperature with wind chills running double digits BELOW ZERO. The gusty winds will hang around all day on Monday with highs only reaching around 7°. This will be our coldest daytime high in some 20 years.

Single digits could last up to 36 hours.

Monday night will be very cold with lows in the ZERO to minus 3 ranges.

A 'heat wave' hits Tuesday as we'll ride up to 15°.

Cold Tuesday night with a low of 10°.

IF POSSIBLE:
Do not travel Sunday night through most of Monday. If you have to travel, carry blankets in your car. Insure your car is FULL of fuel. Insure your anti-freeze levels are proper for your vehicle.

DRESS APPROPRIATELY:
Hypothermia can set in quickly if you're not properly dressed. Hat, gloves, and scarf with your heavy coat. Throw 'cute' out the window ladies. Wear appropriate shoes and leg wear.

PETS:
If they are outdoor pets, do your best to get them indoors (garage, etc) or at least provide good shelter with good, dry straw. If your indoor pets need to go out and do their duty, make sure it is a quick trip.

HOME PREPARATION:
Make sure no water hoses are still attached to water faucets. Make sure vents are closed to your crawl space. If possible, leave the 'hot' faucet dripping overnight on Monday to insure pipes don't freeze. BE VERY CAREFUL with space heaters and kerosene heaters. Don't allow yourself to become a victim.

Remember, all of this is SUBJECT TO SLIGHT CHANGES! I will keep you updated!
